Lloyd Jones, age 81, of Tooele, passed away peacefully early Saturday Oct. 10 after a brief illness, surrounded by most of his loving family. Lloyd, born in Castle Dale, Utah on Feb. 5, 1928, was the second of twin boys, and the 13th of 14 children of Lindley Elmer and Rebecca Dosina Peterson Jones. Lloyd grew up in a very loving and musically inclined family and enjoyed getting together and singing in harmony. Lloyd loved to hunt, and camp up in Huntington and Fairview canyons. Lloyd and his twin brother Floyd enlisted in the Navy for the duration of WWII, making it five sons in all serving at the same time in the military. He was very proud to serve his country. On June 25, 1948 he married his sweetheart, Yvonne Litster of Cleveland, Utah. On June 25, 1975, their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Lloyd worked 10 years in various coal mines and then moved to Tooele where he worked for Kennecott Copper Mine for 30 years and part time for the postal service for 22 years. After Lloyd and Yvonne both retired, they became “snow birds” and began spending their winters in Yuma, Ariz. They have been traveling to Yuma for the past 18 years where they have made many dear friends. Lloyd is survived by his wife, daughters Lois Jones of St. George and Dorinda (Tom) Ware of Tooele, and sons Terry Lloyd (Lori) of Gillette, Wyo., and Rick (Cathy) of Mapleton, Utah. Lloyd is also survived by his brother Ronald, Patty Street (Mark’s wife) and her husband Roland Kayser of Murray, Utah, 27 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, 12 siblings, his son Mark Jones, son-in-law Erle Jones, and daughter-in-law, Jean Jones. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 at the Tooele 4th Ward LDS chapel; 192 West 2nd South, at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. A viewing will also be held Thursday, Oct. 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary.
