A Tooele mom made her first appearance in 3rd District Court Friday after allegedly hitting her 16-year-old son with a skateboard and then driving her vehicle into him last Tuesday.

Alicia Ann Blood, 38, was arrested shortly after Tooele City police officers investigated a 911 call made by a concerned resident regarding a hit-and-run incident on the grass near the Dow James Complex.

When police questioned the teen victim, he told them that his mother had approached him while he was skateboarding at the nearby skate park, and they had quarreled over domestic issues.

After the dispute escalated, the teen said Blood hit him in the head with his skate board. When he attempted to leave, Blood then got into her car, drove over the curb, and chased the boy across the grass, according to Capt. Steve Newkirk of the Tooele City Police Department.

Witnesses said after hitting the boy with her car, Blood exited the vehicle, yelled at her son and then got back in her vehicle and drove away, according to a probable cause statement.

Newkirk said the teen was transported to Mountain West Medical Center with minor injuries.

Blood was charged with aggravated assault and child abuse/neglect — both third-degree felonies — and failure to give assistance at an accident — a class A misdemeanor.

Judge Mark Kouris denied Blood’s request to have bail set so she could potentially be released. She instead was appointed a public defender to represent her and will make her next court appearance today.

The thing we parents do out of love. It sounds like it was just a love tap with the car if he only had "minor injuries."
