“We’re really looking forward to the race and are hoping we’ll have plenty of family and friends out there to cheer for us on our home track,” said Shane Hubbard.
Car 47 is a black Ford with orange flames and is supported in the pits by Robbie Brand and his crew from California. The car is owned by the SNG Racing team.
“We are really excited about this first race and look forward to many more. A great deal of thanks goes out to our sponsors for making this happen,” said Gary Hubbard, owner of SNG Racing.
“We are looking forward to a great season. We are the first team from Utah to give this a shot and we are determined to make an impact.”
SNG Racing has been in operation for almost four decades. Founders, Gary, Todd, and Bruce Hubbard, hold three championship titles and numerous track records in Utah, Idaho, California, and Nevada. Now, with the passing of Todd Hubbard, the next generation, Shane Hubbard, takes the driver’s seat to continue the racing tradition.
“We’ve been out to Miller Motorsports Park twice back in September and November,” Shane Hubbard said. “A lot of our experience is with speed trucks. The hardest part of getting ready for this race is finding a crew. We’ve had to go to California to find a crew chief and over-the-wall guys.”
Shane Hubbard said he expects to do well, but he said takes a lot of “seat time” in a race car to learn how to have the winning edge.
The NASCAR West Series was first formed in 1954 as a proving ground for drivers from the West who could not travel to race in the more traditional stock car racing regions like North Carolina and the rest of the South.
