One man was killed and two others injured in a head-on collision on SR-112 near Deseret Peak Complex today just after 11 a.m.

According to witnesses, a white Ford F-350 was traveling erratically in an eastbound direction on the road when a red four-door Chevy Cavalier approached heading west. As the two vehicles neared each other, the pickup drifted into the oncoming lane of travel. The Cavalier then locked its breaks and the truck slammed into the Cavalier head on.

The impact caused the pickup to roll onto its side off the south side of the road.

“There’s nothing left of the Cavalier,” Prescott said.

The driver of the Cavalier, whose name has not yet been released, was killed on impact. A male passenger from Lake Point suffered extremely critical internal injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to Mountain West Medical Center by ambulance, due to medical helicopters being grounded by fog.

The driver of the pickup, a male from Tooele, suffered neck and back injuries, and was also transported to Mountain West Medical Center.

Alcohol was smelled on the pickup driver’s breath and beer cans were scattered all over the scene, Prescott said. Wet road conditions are not believed to have factored into the accident.

Personnel from UHP, the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, the Tooele City Police Department, Grantsville City Police Department, North Tooele County Fire Department, and the Tooele City Fire Department responded to help redirect traffic and clean up the scene.

SR-112 between Sheep Lane and Durfee Street was closed until the damaged vehicles could be moved off the roadway.

Do you even know the whole story, or are you just running your mouth because someone parked in front of you at the parade?

You're obviously not a fire fighter or any kind of emergency service personnel, you sound pretty brainless and foolish yourself.

Come on punish-all-criminals, grow up! You have no idea who parked in front of people at the parade, get a life!

I wish the best for fire fighter driving the white truck and if you don't know the entire story, don't judge the driver. Actually, don't judge him anyway, I'm sure he's suffering enough.

the firefighter could be the bald one who rudely parked his truck in front of a row of chairs and the handycapped person in the wheelchair that were on the 4th of july route next to the tooele transcript offices

Really, punish-all-criminals??? Do you not realize that there are numerous trucks in Tooele county that look like this one involved in that accident? That's pretty low of you to even assume that it's the same truck!!! My brother is suffering both physically and emotionally because of this accident and all you have to say is hmmm, looks like the same white truck...
