Charges were filed in 3rd District Court last week against a Tooele couple accused of selling drugs out of their home.
In December of last year, the Tooele County Joint Narcotics Task Force completed two controlled drug buys at a residence on Broadmore Way, each time coming away with small amounts of marijuana, according to Sgt. Todd Hewitt, assistant commander of the task force.
The residents of the home, Shawn Kenneth Daley, 36, and Amber Hullings, 28, were both on probation in Salt Lake at the time.
Last week, the task force accompanied Salt Lake Adult Probation and Parole officers to the home and executed a search, which revealed a homemade auto zip gun — otherwise known as a pipe gun — approximately a half pound of marijuana packaged for distribution, psilocybin mushrooms, eight different kinds of prescription pills, one explosive device and the supplies needed to assemble more explosives, including gun powder, Hewitt said.
Daley and Hullings were home at the time of the search and both were taken into custody.
The Unified Fire Authority from Salt Lake City sent bomb experts to the scene to help agents collect and dismantle the explosive and the gun, Hewitt said.
Daley was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person — all second-degree felonies — two counts of possession and distribution of a controlled substance — a third-degree felony — and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.
Federal charges in relation to the firearm and the explosive are pending.
Hullings was charged with third-degree felony distribution of a controlled substance.
Daley will appear in court next on March 3, and Hullings on March 10.
