Crafters wanted
The Kiwanis Craft Fair will be held Saturday, April 11 at the Deseret Peak Complex in conjunction with the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. All crafters wanted. Tree planting
Funding for the plantation of State Trees has been approved for Grantsville. The city has qualified to be a “Tree City USA” since 2003. The deadline for this year’s tree order, to buy one, get one free, is April 10. Applications are available at City Hall.
Easter Egg Hunt
Grantsville Business Alliance Easter Egg Hunt will take place in the city park south of Grantsville High School. Children will be allowed on the hunting site at 10:30 a.m. to line up around each age-designated hunting area (Special needs, 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12). A donation of one non-perishable food item for the food bank is requested for each hunter. The starting siren will be sounded at 11 a.m. by the Grantsville City Fire Department.

CERT meetings
All people who are CERT trained or anyone interested in CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is invited to our bi-monthly meetings. Tooele Junior Prom
Tooele Junior Prom will be held April 17. The theme is a black tie affair and the song for the promenade dance “Feeling Good” by Michael Buble which will be at 9 p.m. at the Utah State Capitol Building. Ticket prices are $36 for a couple, $18 for a single and spectator tickets are $5. Tickets can be purchased through a participating THS student or at the high school.

Attention, coaches for youth and adult recreation or accelerated sports programs, if you are planning or would like to use the Tooele County School District playgrounds or practice fields for your team practices/games you will need to go to the office of the school you wish to use and sign-up for times desired and provide proof of liability insurance. You can obtain proof of insurance from your league president.
Kindergarten registration 09-10
Kindergarten registration for Fall 2009 enrollment is currently being held at all elementary schools through the end of May 2009. To be eligible to enter kindergarten, your child must be at least 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2009. Home schooling info session
An information session from Washington Online School Utah will be held April 15 at 5 p.m. and May 14 and 5 p.m. in the Tooele City Library. Washington Online School Utah offers a public school option for schooling at home, tuition is free. This opportunity is available to all students in the state of Utah through the Washington School District. WOSU is a virtual public school using the K12 curriculum.
Concealed weapons permit classes

Concealed firearm permit class
Casey Davies, of the Cottonwood Heights Police Department, will hold a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Class on April 25 from 8 a.m. to noon for $50 at Grantsville City Hall. Adults learn to drive
A driver education course for adults 18 and over will begin Tuesday, April 14, 6-9 p.m., at the Center. The class includes 18 hours of classroom instruction and 12 hours of driving and observation. Register from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $175 (current students receive a $70 discount). Pre-registration is required.
English as second language
ESOL conversational classes are held Monday and Thursday from 7-9 p.m. ESOL students may also come anytime the center is open for individualized study. Registration is $35 per semester.

‘Pinocchio’ auditions
The Tooele City Arts Council is sponsoring the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Pinocchio.” Auditions will be held on Monday, April 20, from 4-6 p.m. at Copper Canyon Elementary (1600 N. Broadway, Tooele). Students kindergarten through the 8th grade are invited to audition. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.
