1932-2009
Hilda Lucille (Tucker) Brown passed away on April 21, 2009. She was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Christian County, Ky. to Ovil Randolph and Opal Tucker.
Hilda worked as a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital, Salt Lake City and as Occupational Health Nurse at TEAD for a total of almost 30 years, retiring on April 1, 1996.
Hilda will be remembered by those who knew her primarily for her zest for life. Her biggest love was for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hilda had a wide variety of interests, including Volkswalks, horseback riding, traveling with her husband, collecting and making dolls, and crocheting colorful blankets and delicate snowflakes.
Hilda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles H. Brown Sr. of Tooele; son and daughter-in-law George and Jenny Brown of Yorba Linda, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Donna Brown and Gary Pelton of Herndon, Va.; son and daughter-in-law Charles H. Brown Jr. and Susan Nagata of Salt Lake City; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sarah Brown of Tooele; sister Velma Lois Foster of Missouri; and brothers Glendle Tucker and Paul Tucker, both of Hopkinsville, Ky. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, with one more on the way, and five great-grandchildren.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary (110 S. Main St., Tooele). Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, at 11 a.m., with a viewing at 10 a.m. (also at Tate Mortuary). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Hilda Brown to Shriners Hospitals for Children (1275 Fairfax Rd, Salt Lake City UT 84103) or Pathways Domestic Violence Shelter (305 N. Main St., Tooele UT 84074).
