His funeral service was held on Saturday, April 25 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial was held at Davenport Memorial Park.
Ted was born July 28, 1931 in Ely, Nev. to P. Theodore and Edna (Rees) Hansen. He grew up in Magna and Tooele and attended Brigham Young University where he was a member of the baseball team.
In his early years, Ted was a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol and Rescue and also served as a volunteer fireman in Tooele. The majority of his working life was with the Department of Defense where he was stationed in Japan, Germany, Korea and several U.S. states. Ted retired as a Quality Assurance Surveillance Ammunition Specialist (QASAS) after 43 years of faithful federal service. Ted was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On Sept. 15, 1971, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cheri Powers at the American Embassy in Seoul, Korea. Their marriage ceremony was repeated in a military chapel in Taegu, Korea and later sealed for eternity at The Church of Jesus Christ-latter Day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City.
Ted was known for his wit and humor. His passions were baseball (especially the Chicago Cubs), airplanes and flying and tending to his lawn for which he took great pride. Above all else, the love and companionship of his beloved family was the center of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Cheri; his sons, Chris (Jamie) Hansen of Ankeny, Iowa and Kevin (Susan) Hansen of New Boston, N.H.; his daughter, Karen Hansen of Stansbury Park; his granddaughters, Amanda Hansen, Erika Hansen and Hailey Hansen; a new grandson expected in June; and his trusted canine companion, Woody.
Ted was preceded in death by his son, T. Michael Hansen.
