The family and friends of Nita Patton met at the Stansbury Park Golf Course on June 27, 2009. Nita Passed away in November 2004. Nita loved the game of golf, and instilled that love with her daughters; Diana (Sollis) Penney, Salt Lake City, and Janis (Sollis) Wood, Emmett, Idaho. Nita’s daughters passed this love of golf to their children and grandchildren. Meeting together for a fun scramble were: Diana and Doug Penney, Janis Wood, Raini and Rick Robison, Jess Jacobson, Misha and Chad Smith, Glen Tarrant, Lynn and Linda Higgins, Dan Gordon, Myrna Griffone, Suzanne Blair, Mary Walden, Erin McMullin, Bernie Cordova, Mark and Janice Burn, Bryan (Fro) Steward, Dal and Utahanna Ackerman, and Jane and Shain Player.
After the tournament, a barbeque was held at the home of Raini and Rick Robison of Sandy. All the golfers, plus Nita’s great-grandchildren; Jeni Robison, Lindsi Peck, Lorin Peck (the master babysitters) Bryson and Kendall Smith (the babies) were there. Also, many friends who had golfed with Nita, or friends of her children and grandchildren came to the barbeque. Money prizes were given. Winner of the Nita Cup is Misha Smith (granddaughter-in law). Winner of the “Rotten Apple Award” (long story) is Diana Penney (daughter). Next year the tournament will be held in Emmett, Idaho, home of Janis and Rick Wood. This is a true honor and labor of love for her family and friends.
