First, at each early voting location there will be “Early Vote Here” signs — about the size of a campaign sign. These signs will be placed along the front of each location to direct you to the early voting location. For exact locations and times, please refer to the postcard you received in the mail, Thursday night’s Tooele Transcript-Bulletin or our Web site www.co.tooele.ut.us/clerk.htm.
Second, the clerk’s office has purchased a small trailer to transport our voting equipment to schools and other locations to do presentations. The trailer has a sign on the outside that reads “Your Utah, Your Vote.” During early voting and on Election Day, this trailer will be parked throughout the county to remind voters to get out and vote.
Third, on election day, the signs will be out again, along the front of each polling location. These will read “Vote Here.”
Fourth, at each polling location on election day there will be one larger sign with the ADA logo on it placed at the entrance that is the ADA entrance. These are 2 x 4 signs in black and white, made very simply to be easier to see. Please look for these signs to direct those with disabilities, the elderly, or anyone else that may need help into the polling location.
Finally, on early voting days, there will be large banners in front of each location — i.e., Tooele County Building, Grantsville City Hall and Rose Springs Elementary — to remind voters they can vote early and miss the lines expected on Election Day.
Early voting starts today, Oct. 21 and will run through Oct. 31 — Monday through Friday. Yes, even though the county building is closed on Fridays, we will still hold early voting. Please park behind the county building in the east parking lot and come in the door by the Sheriff’s Department (east door). You’ll be able to recognize it because we will have some of the aforementioned signs at the door to guide you.
Thank you to all of those who have opted to vote a by-mail ballot already, taking the pressure off the polls on Election Day. It is not too late to vote by-mail, just fill out and mail a by-mail request form and we’ll mail the ballot directly to you.
All of those voters located in permanent by-mail precincts will receive a notice saying their ballot has been received in the Clerk’s Office. If you have not received your notice within a week from sending your ballot, please call the office.
If you have any questions, please call the office at 843-3148. Thanks for voting!
Marilyn Gillette is the Tooele County clerk.
