Born Jan. 28, 1922 in Mena, Ark. to John Wesley Martin and Olivia Marie (Boberg) passed away on Aug. 19 2009. He served in the Navy on the carrier Yorktown and was a WW II South Pacific theater veteran. He also served in Germany during the Berlin Airlift and the Korean War. After honorably retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer he entered the Federal Aviation Agency as a radar specialist for air traffic control from which he retired in 1977.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Doreen (Orlan Jack Morgan, d.), Julia Ellen “Sudie” (Charles Wesley “Jack” Loyd, d.) and his wife Stella Lenore (Hartwig) and daughter Marianne E.O.A. (Lowe). He is survived by siblings John Wesley Jr. (Mary Helen, d.), Norman Bernard (Jacque Ellen, d.), and Olivia Marie (JL Moreland); sons William Karl and Daniel Dalton (Cherie); grandchildren Brigham, Bryce, Alexis, Douglas, Sarah, and Abigail through Bill; Melinda and Adam through Daniel, and McDuff his faithful English sheep dog.

Throughout life he was known for his love of music, singing and dancing (especially with his sister Marie). He loved to sing while playing guitar and piano, to garden and give away produce, fish, golf and tell stories (and make spontaneous medical evaluations for himself and others).

We will miss you Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle “Potts” and we will see you on the other side.
