Indoor soccer for new rec center

I’m all for the indoor recreation center to be built in Stansbury (“Rec center to be built in Stansbury,” Sept. 3). It is a great idea. But what I’m wondering about, and what I’m missing in the plan, is the possibility for indoor soccer. I read about all those informally invited sports partners, but miss any representatives of the local soccer programs in the Tooele area. Those interested in indoor soccer now have to go to Murray or Woods Cross. Maybe one of the basketball courts can be changed into an indoor soccer court so that all the local soccer players have an opportunity to play closer to home. Maybe Dean Gonzales, vice president of the Utah Sports Academy, has to think about this and talk it over with those involved in this project.

Hello Peter,

I would like to first say "Thank you" for taking the time to express your concern for the sport "SOCCER." I am also sorry our article failed to cover all of what we are planning to accomplish with this facility. Please be assured that indoor soccer has been a part of our plans from the start and a convertible court will accommodate such plans. As soon as ground breaks and our building is underway, we will be announcing many more programs scheduled to be active within the building.

Unfortunately, reality dictates that I will fail someone in not providing a resource for them to enjoy some form of recreation, this we understand. I encourage you and any other concerned citizen to email us with their questions and concerns, who knows what ideas may surface by simple talking about it. Again, thank you for taking your time to express your feelings. I hope our soccer program will meet the public and your expectations in the near future.
