My husband and I are residents of Elk Ridge in Tooele. I was greatly disappointed in the tone and content of the article regarding Rocky Mountain Power’s announcement that the company will proceed with plans to install high-voltage power lines on Tooele’s east bench (“Power company won’t budge on east bench route,” Sept. 29). Rocky Mountain Power has ignored the objections of Tooele citizens and ignored the alternative routes proposed by these citizens. These alternative routes are viable, yet Rocky Mountain Power has not considered them. It is apparent that there was never any intention to consider them. These gigantic power poles and lines endanger Tooele’s watershed, endanger wildlife, pose potential health risks to the children and adults living in Tooele and deface the mountains and foothills. I protest. Rocky Mountain Power should be held accountable for its failure to consider alternatives and be obliged to do so.

Ms. Studdert,

I would like to meet you as I have some great oceanview property in Arizona I would like to sell you. You have received some inaccurate information. I applaud you for speaking out and protesting power lines in your neighborhood. Did you consider that others in Tooele county, like myself are not happy with the Tooele Citizens proposed route because it would move the problem to someone else's community and in fact have more adverse impacts overall. Did you attend any of the meetings that were mentioned, or are you just repeating what others have told you. I encourage you to get the facts on your own from sources beyond the transcript and the Tooele Citizens group and perhaps you may have some understanding about the complexity of this issue.
