Our handyman husband, daddy, pappy, uncle, brother and friend, returned home to our Lord and Savior after a short, very courageous battle with cancer on February 11, 2010. Johnny was born on April 14,1935 to Johnny Carroll and Viola Kannady Lawrence. He lost his mother when he was only 1, and was raised by HenryEtta (mama) Lawrence. He moved to Colorado, where he met his greatest blessing in life, “The Most Beautiful Girl,” and married her in 1958. They moved to Tooele, where he worked in supervisor positions at the Smelter, Tooele Army Depot, D. McBride, and Ace Disposal. He was employed at Jay’s Sinclair until October 2009. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter for his wife of 51 years, Rowena Lawrence, and his four children: Susan (Sheldon) Johnson; Linda (Ryan) Reed, both of Grantsville; Jeff (Glenna) Lawrence of Nevada; and Richard (Lori) Lawrence of Arizona; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his brothers, John William (Estalee ) Lawrence of Arkansas; and Arthur (Janet) Lawrence of Colorado; his special nephew, Doug Robbins of Grantsville; special friends, the Medranos, and anyone who was blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother a niece and a nephew. Daddy loved to do wood-working and was extremely talented. He loved to tinker in his garage. He could fix anything. And always gave a helping hand to those in need. He loved his church family at the First Baptist Church of Grantsville. His greatest joy, were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He taught his children so many valuable lessons in life and love. He loved serving people, and his job at Jay’s. Daddy was a born again Christian. His love of God comforted him in his final days. At his request, he was cremated. Graveside services will be held, Thursday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Grantsville City Cemetery. Friends may join us in the celebration of Johnny’s journey from earth, to the loving arms of the Lord. Daddy, we, your wife and children, love you so much, and will miss you everyday, until we meet again. Never say goodbye, always say goodnight.
