Tooele High golf

The Tooele High School boys golf tryouts will begin Aug. 2 at 8 a.m. at Overlake Golf Course. For more information call coach Fred Killpack at (435) 830- 1258.

Stansbury High golf

Stansbury High School is having its boys golf tryouts on Aug. 2-4 at Stansbury Park Golf Course. Tryouts begin at 8:30 a.m. each day. For more information contact coach Gary Mathie at (435) 882-6467 or (435) 830-7793.

THS youth football camp

Tooele High School will sponsor a Little League Football camp this month to teach fundamentals and techniques to young players. Instructors will be THS head football coach Ray Groth, assistant coaches and senior football players. The camp will run July 19-22 and start each day at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. Players should wear shorts, T-shirts and football cleats. Cost is $15. Tooele tennis

Future THS tennis players are invited to participate in supervised drills on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the THS courts. The drills are for players grades seventh through 12th.

Tooele girls basketball

Tooele girls basketball will be holding a team camp at Tooele High School. This camp will run July 19 through July 22 from 10 a.m. until noon. The camp is open for girls eighth through 12th grades and cost is $30 which and can be paid the first day of the camp. Junior Stallions volleyball

The Junior Stallions volleyball camp will be held July 20-22 at Stansbury High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $45 per person and girls cans sign up at the SHS finance office. The camp is for girls entering fourth grade through ninth grade during the upcoming school year.

Grantsville Ute Conference

Players can sign up for Grantsville Ute Football League at Grantsville High School on Saturday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $195. First-year players need a copy of their birth certificates.

Stansbury Ute Conference

Players can sign up for the Stansbury Ute Conference football program on Saturday, July 17 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. from 10 a.m. at the Stansbury Clubhouse. All new players need to bring a copy of their birth certificates. Players can also sign up at www.utefootball.org. The league is for those ages 8 to 15 with practices starting the first week of August.

Stansbury junior league

The Stansbury Park Golf Course Junior League will continue play on Mondays July 26, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9. Boys and girls ages 8 to 17 are invited to participate. Start time is 8 a.m. and cost is $10 per day which includes green fees, hot dog, drink and prizes. On Aug. 9 a championship tournament will be held. Parents are needed to help with scoring.

Jazz sign Raja

Former Jazzman Raja Bell will play again for the Utah Jazz. Utah signed Bell to a contract on Wednesday contingent on him passing a physical exam. The veteran swingman played two seasons for the Jazz and last year played for the Golden State Warriors, but a wrist injury curtailed his season. The Jazz did not match a $32.5 million five-year from the Portland Trailblazers for Wesley Matthews. Earlier this week the Jazz acquired Minnesota center/forward Al Jefferson in a trade that included Kosta Koufus.

LeMans on Discovery

The efforts of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón to help develop alternative energy solutions are part of the Discovery Channel’s ground-breaking television series “Powering the Future.” The four-part special — which examines the global search for clean and renewable energy sources — begins with an episode titled The Energy Revolution. Set to air at 6 and 9 p.m. on Friday on Discovery, The Energy Revolution will explore the shift in energy sources and uses. As the Global Leader of Green Racing, the Series allows the use of five alternative energy sources: E10, E85, clean and sulfur-free diesel, isobutanol and hybrid technology. The world’s premium manufacturers in the automotive industry participate in the American Le Mans Series today in order to test and deploy tomorrow’s automotive technologies for their road car fleets.
