Involvement would help Stansbury Days

A decision has been made about Stansbury Days which several people are disappointed with. Beer will be served (“Beer to flow over objections at Stansbury Days festival,” Aug. 5). I am not in favor of this decision. The Tooele Transcript wrongly reported that I was not in attendance at the latest Stansbury Park Community Association meeting wherein the vote was taken. I was there, but I am no longer a voting member of the board because I did not seek re-election in May. My vote could have made a difference. Because there are many people in our community who have an opinion on this subject, I think that this is a critical time to come together as a community, putting differences aside. I am going to continue to plan Stansbury Days, making it the best event possible. We need to move forward, appreciating those who have dedicated their time to plan Stansbury Days even if their decisions are different from ours. If we want to have community events to draw us in together, we need to have people to organize them. The community needs to support those who are willing, or be willing to do it themselves. I think the lesson to be learned is that complaining does a little, but getting involved does a lot. If you want to have a say in what happens at Stansbury Days next year, now is the time to get involved. My vote could have made a difference and yours could have too.

To all of you better then me, FYI, 3.2 beer is not beer.

Relax! I didn't rat you off to others when you downed my cold-pack when we went fishing last Saturday, so why would I start now?

Sounds like we need, grow up, mind your own business and thou shalt not judge lessons taught on sunday also.

Stansbury should be ashamed for letting people be adults, what in the "always cold filtered" were they thinking? this is America or something?

It seems to me that the it's up to the people who are against the beer garden as to whether the community will come together.

Those who are for it, as I am, have attened Stansbury Days without a beer garden and will do so with a beer garden. I would have gone this year without a beer garden but applaud Mr. Ellis for pushing one through.

So will those against it put aside their difference of opinion and enjoy the day anyway?

Compare events with beer to events without beer. I enjoy demo derby and rodeo more at those venues that don't allow beer. Unfortunately it only takes one or two obnoxious drinkers to ruin the event for all. I for one am sorry that the beer is coming to Stansbury days. Let us hope that those who enjoy it keep the situation calm and correct the behavior of the loutish.

Is the assumption that if beer is served, all that drink it will become out of control, slobbering idiots?? I enjoy a beer at an event like this and I am absolutely fine having my children near me when I have a beer. If you are concerned with the minors being around the alcohol, maybe you should consider educating your children on the subject and not just tell them that it is bad to drink. Many fine people in this community are known to have a drink on occasion and they remain fine people even after they have that drink. I understand that it is tough for many of the long time residents to accept the fact that our little community is getting more and more diverse. The beer garden is a great idea.

I bet you won't complain when you find out how much money a beer garden brings in. Why is everyone sooooo closed minded. Give me a break!
