According to a Utah Highway Patrol reporter, Thomas E. Snyder was headed southbound on SR-36 when his Chevrolet Malibu crashed into a Peterbilt tractor trailer at milepost 11 near Vernon. Snyder's car reportedly drifted into the oncoming lane, colliding with the semi and then rolling off the west side of the road where it caught fire. Snyder's body was badly burned in the fire.
The driver of the truck drove on about 1/4 of a mile before coming to a stop.
The UHP did not indicate the cause of the accident.
