Preston Scott Mills was sentenced in 3rd District Court today to 36 months probation, and was also told by Judge Mark Kouris to stay away from known gang members.
Mills, who said he is not a member of the QVO gang but just friends with several gang members, pleaded guilty Oct. 9 to burglary, a second-degree felony, and two Class A misdemeanor assault charges related to an attack that occurred this summer on Smelter Road in Tooele.
Mills told the court he had had an earlier altercation with James Michael, and on July 10 he and Curtis Mills and Rocky Kubat allegedly hit Michael in the head with a glass and then in the back with a plastic lawn chair. Michael's roommate, Chris Warr, was also injured during the altercation.
Curtis Mills, 20, entered into a plea in abeyance agreement with the state in August for first-degree aggravated burglary. Mills also pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor assault charge. He is currently serving probation.
Kubat, 20, entered into a plea in abeyance agreement with the state in September for first-degree aggravated burglary and pleaded guilty to simple assault, a third-degree felony. He is also on probation.
