GHS's top two singles players thrash 5A foes from Hillcrest

The Grantsville tennis team showed its strength at the top two positions last Wednesday in a 3-2 setback at 5A Hillcrest.

No.1 singles player Logan Paulich returns for his senior season and showed his skill at the top singles spot with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Blake Ellison. Grantsville's Jared Nordgran also toppled his 5A foe Kevin Heiner with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.

Brett Peterson of Grantsville at No. 3 singles dropped his match to Bubba Dallimore 0-6, 2-6.

Grantsville also lost the two doubles matches with Hillcrest's Zach Dastrup and Jeff Oviate blanking Grantsville's George Parkinson and Casey Williams at No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 2 doubles Kaleb Rupp and Trevor Lujan lost to Brett Hashumota and Jamison Meiling 2-6, 1-6.

Playing in the No.1 singles spot for Grantsville's junior varsity was Daniel Garrard. He lost to Takami Kowlaski 3-8. At junior varsity No. 2, Grantsville's Jared Knight battled strong against Hillcrest's David Evans before losing 5-8. Junior varsity No. 3 Kyler Rupp's match was even tighter. Rupp lost 6-8 to Jacob Choi.

In JV doubles action Grantsville's Ben Tripp and Dallin Gomez lost to Albert Choi and Bubba Pecht 4-8. At No. 2 doubles Dallas Parks and Austin Rowley dropped their match 1-8.

In an exhibtion match, Dalan Leonelli and Dallin Hardy dropped a pro set to Matt Durant and David Markewitz 4-8.

The Grantsville tennis team hosts Bingham today and then hosts Wasatch on Tuesday, March 25.
