The Tooele County Domestic Violence Coalition will hold their annual candlelight vigil in honor of domestic violence survivors and victims this Thursday, Oct. 11.

The public is invited to participate in the procession beginning at Janna's Java on the corner of 400 North and Main streets in Tooele at 6 p.m. The walk will proceed south and end at Veterans Memorial Park with a short program.

"There's no excuse for abuse," said Rose Trujillo, domestic violence advocate for the Tooele City Police Department, adding the theme for the year and the event is "The power of one, the strength of many."

At Veterans Memorial Park, a quilt comprised of squares made by victims of domestic violence in the Tooele area will be on display.

Refreshments of donuts, hot chocolate, coffee and water will be provided.

Candles and purple ribbons commemorating victims and survivors of domestic violence will also be provided by the Tooele County Domestic Violence Coalition.

October is domestic violence awareness month.
