A 41-year-old Tooele man who pleaded guilty June 12 to forcible sex abuse, a second-degree felony, was sentenced today to jail and ordered to complete sex offender treatment.

Douglas Scott Rose told the court at his plea hearing that he had given a 14-year-old girl $25 in January to participate in a sex act with him.

The victim had been in the care of her legal guardians, Beth and Jeffrey Allen Lake. Jeffrey Allen Lake has already been convicted of sexually abusing the girl, and Beth Lake allegedly participated in the abuse.

Following a 90-day psycho-sexual diagnostic at the Utah State Prison, Rose appeared in court wearing a prison-issued red jumpsuit.

"This is a thing I put people in prison for," said 3rd District Court Judge Mark Kouris during the sentencing.

Rose will spend one year in the Tooele County Detention Center. However, he will be eligible for release in six months to check into the Northern Utah Community Correctional Center in Ogden -- a halfway house for sex offenders.

Jeffrey Allen Lake, 45, is serving one to 15 years in prison for fondling the girls breasts. Beth Lake is being held on federal court charges including taking and distributing sexually explicit photos of the girl. She had been scheduled for a change of plea hearing in October. However, the hearing was post-poned pending the appointment of a new judge in the case.
