The Grantsville girls basketball team poured it on in the second and fourth quarters to blast the Delta Rabbits Tuesday night 58-30 for the team's second straight victory. Leading 14-9 after one quarter, Grantsville outscored the visitors 12-2 in the second quarter and 19-1 in the fourth quarter to surge to an easy win. Grantsville's Sammie Jensen spent the night at the foul line where she canned 11 of 15 free throws. She also hit three field goals to lead the team with 17 points. Meanwhile, Kelsi Wells scored 14, Kylie Erickson 9 and Marissa Robbins 8 in the rout. The team hosts Park City tonight and then plays at Cottonwood on Saturday.
Dugway boys
The hottest player in the county may be Dugway's Morgan Kartchner who has scored 67 points and 10 3-pointers in the Mustangs' three victories to open the season. He scored 21 against Mount Vernon, 24 against Grantsville's sophomores and 22 against Milford. Kartchner hit one trey against Mount Vernon, six against Grantsville and three against Milford. Dugway defeated Mount Vernon by 17, Grantsville sophomores by 21 and Milford by 20. The Cowboys were led by sophomore Reggie Roberts in the loss to the Dugway varsity. Roberts canned three 3-pointers and scored 15 points. Dugway girls are 1-1 so far this season with a victory over West Ridge Academy and a loss to American Leadership Academy. Wendover boys lost their opening game of the season at West Ridge Academy. Rosales scored 20 and Desantiago 11 for the Wildcats.
