After losing a game 6-2 to Pine View on Thursday night, Grantsville High School's softball team won five straight games Friday and Saturday in St. George to win the tournament.

The Cowboys defeated Mountain Crest 4-0, Provo 11-2, West 11-1, Sky View 6-0 and Snow Canyon 8-0.

"We have a real strong lineup this year with good pitching and strong defense," said coach Heidi Heath.

Grantsville's pitching rotation includes three underclassmen in junior Lindsey Dalton, sophomore Chelsee Paige Dalton and freshman Natalie Peterson.

Peterson tossed a one hitter in the win against Mountain Crest and a no-hitter against Sky View.

"Natalie walked only one batter in the no-hitter coming close to a perfect game," her coach said.

"Our defense backs up our pitching. Our pitchers did not throw a ton of strikes, but the balls were all hit to our fielders who made the plays," Heath said.

The Cowboys have no seniors on the team this year.

Grantsville hosts Delta today and Woods Cross on Thursday with both games at 3 p.m.
