Registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at Elton Park, 400 North and Broadway. The cost is $15, although toddlers and infants are welcome to join in for free. Anyone who registers will receive a fun run T-shirt.
Participants will be transported in a van or bus to the top of Smelter Road where they will be dropped off and begin the run/walk back to Elton Park, which is roughly 3.1 miles.
Back at Elton Park a light breakfast will be served and a drawing will be held for prizes.
DVSAVA is anticipating 200 runners/walkers for this year's event. Pre-registration can be done online at www.dvsava.org or at Macey's Food and Drug. All proceeds will benefit the DVSAVA crisis line and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
DVSAVA provides $5,000 in direct assistance to victims each year in the form of emergency housing, food, transportation and clothing, according to Betsy Leishman, DVSAVA coordinator. DVSAVA also coordinates support from local resources like work force services, housing, the food bank and counseling services.
"The fun run along with our fireworks sales at Wal-Mart and a few donations are our primary sources of income," Leishman said.
