From old Southern-style music to fast-paced patriotic anthems, the Choral Society plans to entertain the audience from beginning to end, singing familiar tunes like "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "William Tell Overture." Along with some a cappella pieces, the group will be accompanied by a pianist and fiddler and feature a few soloists.
"We perform a very eclectic mix," said director Denise McCubbins. "When I pick the music, I try to choose things that are really unique. We try to put our own twist or spin on everything and anything we do and really just appeal to the crowd."
The choir was established two years ago and performs at various events, such as church functions, flag ceremonies and arts festivals. The Choral Society has about 20 members ranging in age from 20 to 60. Both men and women are included in the choir.
"The Choral Society is made up of people who truly love the music," McCubbins said. "Together, we create something great that can't be done without a group."
The Tooele County Choral Society's performance will begin at 7 p.m. this Friday at Veterans Memorial Park.
